Military and Law Enforcement

VX is a service-disabled veteran owned company.  Its president and lead instructor, Dan Sanderford, is a former Force Recon Marine Scout Sniper who spent many years as an operator throughout multiple deployments to the Middle East before joining the instructor staff at Marine Corps Special Operations Training Group (SOTG).  At SOTG Dan taught Urban Sniper, Reconnaissance & Surveillance, Close Quarters Combat and Visit, Board, Search & Seizure (VBSS).  After leaving the Marine Corps, Dan worked for several years as an instructor with the O’Gara Group, a private security contracting firm, before leaving to found VX in 2011.

VX provides training services for many DOD/DOJ and LE (federal, state and local) units, predominantly in the areas of sniper applications and close quarters combat.  The U.S. Secret Service, the 75th Rangers, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and many other military units and law enforcement SWAT teams from throughout the U.S. have sent operators to train at VX.

Teams training at VX receive intensive and highly personalized instruction, with an overarching focus at all times on instillation and strengthening of a focused and professional operator’s mindset.  Techniques and tactics will be comprehensively and expertly covered in all courses of instruction and across all firearm platforms, but always in the context of VX’s mindset-centric approach to training.  Mindset growth and enhancement invariably yields a strong learning curve: that is, an ability to improve the rate and quality of processing the instruction being received, which in turn yields a superior ability to perform under the pressure of actual engagements.

VX’s training emphasizes conceptual understanding and development of the ability to process priorities more fluidly (rather than rely on muscle memory or sequence memorization) as we develop critical skills operators.  To build the trust level required to nurture and sustain this growth process, VX instructors continually provide the “why behind the what” as to all teaching points, thereby promoting a higher understanding level with respect to all elements of training.

Communication is also heavily emphasized.  This does not mean that students are expected to employ the right “lingo” or speak eloquently, but rather that they are able to communicate effectively with instructors to evidence that fluid mental processing is occurring.

Mil/LE units that benefit the most from their VX training are those whose members put aside egos (for their own learning benefit) and prioritize the application of grit to the process, understanding that they will need to respond positively as stress is deliberately manufactured—gradually and in a carefully controlled fashion—within the VX curriculum.

Training courses are customized to your unit’s current skillsets and needs, and are offered in multiple day (2 to 5) concentrated blocs.  While VX can accommodate mobile training to meet the needs of your unit, the VX facility has been designed and optimized for dynamic training, with modular facility components for altering the environment, a 1,000-yard range and a shoot village for varied scenario training.  This enables us to provide our clients with virtually unlimited training scenarios.  VX also consults with certain specialized units to help refine their in-house training programs.
